Are you looking for peace and an understanding about life, the way it works and your place in it? It can seem daunting when everything seems to be going wrong, or when you feel like you don’t like yourself or feel that no one likes you. The good news is that most of us feel this way at one time or another. However, sometimes these feelings can take over and we need help to find our way out. How we approach problems in life; the way we perceive them and who we look to for help when problems become overwhelming is important. HOPE’s Christian Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Spiritual Mentoring Program will help you to get a sound perspective on your problems by learning new ways of looking at difficult situations.
Ongoing emotional stress can turn into anxiety, depression, and a host of other mental and physical health challenges when left unresolved or unaddressed. If you find that you are in a constant state of fight, flight, or freeze; angry, avoidant or immobilized; there is hope. The biggest weapon in addition to learning how to have better control over your ‘thoughts, emotions, and actions, is to learn about what God has to say about your identity and purpose in him. Getting God’s perspective about why we are here and how we are meant to fit into this world is a giant step towards finding peace. However, finding real peace is more than an intellectual pursuit. It also has to do with faith. Faith is something we will talk a lot about. We will talk about what it is and how you get it.
Lastly and most importantly, we will talk about God’s Holy Spirit and the promise Jesus made to his disciples before he left them. He promised to send the Holy Spirit to them, so they would be comforted and have a peace that would pass all understanding. He then extended this promise to all who would believe in him. This may sound strange to you and it does to many. Jesus knew it would, so he gave us all a challenge. He said that if we seek him, we will find him, if we seek him with all our heart. His second challenge was to love and obey him. So, once we find him, we are to love and obey him. Jesus sends the Holy Spirit of Truth to dwell in us, so we receive his peace and learn how-to live-in obedience. He said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. John 14
The Bible says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” Heb 11 If you decide to take this challenge and journey with HOPE… we pray that the evidence you receive will be peace and an unshakable faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
